Understand Route Types and Cost Differences

IEPL dedicated, relay, and direct routes are not a simple ranking. Each uses a different path structure and suits different regions, usage periods, and tasks.

RELAY Path Routing

Relay Route

A relay route first connects through a nearby or better-positioned entry point, then sends traffic through an intermediate path to the target region. Its value lies in separating the local access segment from the international exit segment instead of relying on a single end-to-end path. For distant target cities or situations where direct routing takes an inefficient path, relays can be easier to adjust.

Relays add a routing step, so the actual experience depends on the entry point, exit region, and local network conditions at the time. They suit everyday browsing, streaming, developer resources, and routine file transfers. If a relay connects normally but the target service remains unstable, try another city in the same region before switching to a much farther country.

DIRECT Simple Path

Direct Route

A direct route connects from the current network straight to an exit in the target city without passing through a specified relay entry. Its path is simpler, making it suitable when the target region is nearby, local access conditions are good, or you only need brief access to international websites. Direct routes are also useful for determining whether an issue comes from local access, the target service, or the relay path.

Direct routes are simpler to operate, but they can be more affected by local carrier networks, changing cross-border routing, and the distance to the target city. They are not automatically the poorer choice: when the path is suitable, direct access can reduce routing steps. If loading becomes unstable, try a relay in the same region first, then consider changing the target country.

Reliable route selection is not about finding one name to use forever. It is about matching the target region and task to your current access conditions. The methods below can be applied directly when filtering routes in the client.

Everyday Browsing and Research

Standard websites, developer documentation, online search, and email usually do not require routes through many regions. Start with a nearby Asia-Pacific city and continue once pages and resources load consistently. If the target site is clearly hosted in North America or Europe, switch to the corresponding region instead of adding unnecessary path complexity because a route name sounds more advanced.

When one site will not load, first check whether other sites work normally. If only the target site is affected, trying another city in the same country is usually more useful for diagnosis than switching regions immediately. You can also separate browsing routes from work routes so one region does not have to serve unrelated destinations.

Streaming

For streaming, start with the content rights region rather than the route type alone. Choose a Japanese city for Japanese content and start with a US city for US content. After connecting, open the platform home page to confirm the displayed region before playback. If the account, payment, and exit regions differ, the platform may still apply its account rules to the available content.

Avoid switching cities frequently during continuous playback. A changing exit may cause the platform to reassess the region and can interrupt an established media connection. If quality fluctuates, try another city or access method within the same country, then reopen the playback page to verify.

AI Tools

Registration, sign-in, long conversations, and file processing place different demands on AI tools. Sign-in depends more on matching the exit region to the account environment; long conversations depend on connection continuity; file uploads depend more on complete transfers. Choose a region supported by the target tool and keep the same city throughout the session.

If short prompts submit successfully but long responses often stop, switch from a direct route in the same region to a relay or IEPL dedicated route. Do not repeatedly change exits while a response is being generated. When using several AI tools, prefer a region they all support to reduce frequent route changes between sessions.

Online Gaming

Choose a game route based on the server region, not the location of the game’s website. Account sign-in, resource updates, and live matches may use different network entry points, so a smooth download does not guarantee a suitable match path. First identify whether the game server is in Asia-Pacific, North America, or Europe, then choose a nearby city within that region.

Keep the route unchanged once a match begins. If the connection fails, compare direct and relay routes within the same region; only switch regions when the target server region was selected incorrectly. Some games assign servers according to account region, and a route cannot override the game’s own matchmaking rules.

Remote Work and Collaboration

Video meetings, remote desktops, code repositories, and cloud documents have different network requirements. Meetings and remote desktops need continuity; repositories and file sync need complete transfers; collaborative documents depend more on a persistent sign-in state. Work routes should primarily match the region where the company service or collaboration platform is hosted.

Before an important meeting, connect and open the meeting page to check your devices; do not change the exit during the meeting. For cross-region collaboration, use the main work region as a stable entry point and switch back after temporary tasks are finished. IEPL dedicated routes suit longer real-time collaboration, while relays provide an alternative path in the same region.

Determine which region primarily serves the website, streaming content, AI tool, game server, or work system. When the region is unclear, start with the location publicly supported by the service instead of choosing the farthest city.

Compare Access Methods in the Same Region

Compare IEPL dedicated, relay, and direct routes within the same country or between nearby cities. This separates regional differences from route-type differences and prevents uncertainty about which change affected the result.

Verify

Test with the Real Task

Use the task you actually need to complete to verify the route: open the target page, maintain a complete conversation, join a meeting, or play content. A successful connection alone is not enough to show that a route suits the current use case.

Stability

Keep the Exit Stable During the Task

Keep the same region and city during sign-in, payment, meetings, conversations, and continuous playback. Adjust the route after the task is complete to reduce the chance that the target service will reassess the session environment.

Expand the Scope Gradually When Switching

First, change the access method within the same city, such as switching from direct to relay. Second, change cities within the same country. Only then switch to a neighboring country or another region. This sequence preserves regional consistency and helps identify whether the issue is limited to one path, a mismatched city exit, or an incorrect target region.

Why are there different cities and route types in the same country?
Service entry points, international exits, and target platform locations can differ within one country. Keeping multiple cities and access methods makes it possible to adjust the path without changing the target region. Compare candidates within the same country first, then consider switching regions.
Does a streaming support label mean all content will be available?
The label means the route can serve as a candidate entry point for content from the corresponding region. It does not change the platform’s copyright coverage, account-region, or payment-region rules. After connecting, confirm within the target platform that the available content matches your expectations.
Are IEPL dedicated routes suitable for every task?
IEPL dedicated routes are better suited to long meetings, sustained transfers, and tasks that require a persistent session, but not every browsing session needs one. When the target region is nearby and the direct path is suitable, direct or relay access can be a simpler option.
Can I switch cities frequently after connecting?
